From September 30 to October 4, 2024, Assist. Prof. Jale Akgöl from Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University in Turkey visited the Medication Adherence Resource Center at the Medical University of Lodz as part of a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) under the framework of COST Action ENABLE. The purpose of her visit was to gain deeper insights into the resources, strategies, and best practices employed by the Center to improve medication adherence among patients.
Medication adherence is crucial for successful health outcomes, but many patients face challenges, such as forgetfulness, side effects, or complex medication schedules. During her visit, Prof. Akgöl explored the Center’s tools and educational programs, focusing on how technology—like dedicated mobile apps and reminder systems—can enhance adherence. She also investigated personalized interventions, patient education, and collaborative care models to support long-term adherence.
The Medication Adherence Resource Center, led by Prof. Przemysław Kardas, is unique in Central and Eastern Europe, with a renowned team of scientists conducting international research and engaging in educational activities. Prof. Akgöl’s visit aligns with the Center’s mission to foster international collaboration.
Prof. Akgöl also shared her interest in a video on medication adherence, available under the link.
